Bridges Society and Women United

Leadership donors have a special opportunity to engage with United Way through participation in our two leadership groups, Bridges Society and Women United. Becoming a member of our Bridges Society is automatic when you make a leadership pledge during your United Way campaign. You will immediately be recognized as a member of our largest and most diverse group of leadership donors. You will join thousands of fellow changemakers who lead by example and inspire others to support United Way in creating a thriving region. And, that leadership gift also provides the option to join our Women United donor group.

We are proud to say that we have 217 Bridges Society members here at the University. And, when you become a Women United member, you join 122 of your Pitt colleagues in United Way’s 3rd largest Women United group. Women United is a powerful force of over 2,000 women here in Southwestern PA who are committed to making a last difference in our community.

How to get involved:

  • Leadership donations begin at $1,000, but you can choose whatever level feels right for you.
  • When you make a donation, you have an opportunity to choose how to direct your gift. Please consider designating all or at least a portion of your gift directly to United Way. When you do, you will be supporting United Way’s critical work in the community – Meeting Basic Needs, Moving to Financial Stability and Building for Success in School and Life.

In addition, members of both Bridges Society and Women United engage with the United Way in three ways:

  • Philanthropy – making a leadership level donation to United Way.
  • Events – variety of networking and professional development events throughout the year.
  • Volunteerism – dozens of impactful volunteer projects that provide an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and engage with our many nonprofit agency partners who are the boots on the ground meeting our neighbors’ needs.
